Executive DetailsArlene Silverio
Concussion Program Coordinator
As a pediatric ER physician in a children's hospital for nearly 20 years and the mother of four hockey players who have sustained five concussions among them, I'm very attuned to the consequences of head injuries in children.
Despite these injuries, all four of my children are still in the game. I'm a big believer in team sports, which keep them physically active and teaches them teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline and hard work. I fully understand the inherent risks of ice hockey and thus the importance of prevention, detection and appropriate management of concussions at all age levels.
My goal is to keep the kids playing the game and ensure that they do so in the safest manner possible. As parents, we owe this to the kids.
Please contact me with any questions regarding PYHA's Concussion Program, which promotes concussion education, prevention, appropriate management, and concussion research in youth sports.
