Pelham Youth Hockey Association Annual Awards

The Pelham Youth Hockey Association each year recognizes four outstanding contributors to its programs through the following awards:

The Amy O’ Doherty Memorial Award — named in honor of Amy, who was a Pelham Hockey alumni and 1996 Pelham Memorial High School graduate and three-sport athlete — is given to an outstanding female participant in our programs. Past recipients include:

The Joe Shea Award — named in honor of Joe, who, together with his family, has been a major part of the Pelham Youth Hockey Association for many years — is given to a player who best embodies the characteristics of sportsmanship, including a player who: exhibits excellent conduct, both on and off the ice; exhibits leadership on and off the ice; exhibits perseverance and dedication, attends and works hard in practice as well as games; is on time; values and supports the team; handles both victory and defeat in stride; shows respect for coaches, players, parents, and officials and treats all with fairness, generosity and courtesy. The award recipient need not be the most skilled, highest scoring, or most athletic player on a team — but simply a player who has consistently displayed outstanding sportsmanship.
